Modelling embedded systems using the UML
 
Course Overview
This course introduces how embedded systems may be modelled using the UML. It covers the following topics:
  • Review of the UML - This is not a detail introduction to the UML, but rather aims to review the UML concepts based on some experience of use. The standard diagrams are used and examples of embedded system models are explained.
  • Introduction to modelling embedded systems - The approach to modelling embedded systems is introduced
  • Case studies - an extensive range of case studies are modelled and reviewed. The participants will take part in group and individual exercises aimed at instilling the UML concepts and how it can be applied in the embedded systems environment.
 
Audience
This course is targeted at individuals that may need to model embedded systems as part of the software engineering lifecycle.
 
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the UML is a prerequisite.
Note. UML concepts, which introduce the UML and the associated models, may be included in this course on request.
 
Expected outcomes
The attendees will have a working knowledge of how embedded systems may be modelled using the UML.
